In Frankrijk is een 16-jarig meisje onderwerp geworden van een politieke storm nadat ze kritiek had geuit op de islam. Het meisje kreeg daarna talloze doodsbedreigingen en werd uit veiligheidsoverwegingen van school gehaald. De Franse minister van Justitie was opvallend hard voor het meisje, maar werd teruggefloten.
Ongeveer twee weken geleden ging de bal aan het rollen toen Mila, een jong meisje uit Lyon, een filmpje plaatste op Instagram. Een jongeman probeerde Mila daarna te versieren, maar toen Mila antwoordde dat ze geen interesse had en dat ze lesbisch is, werd ze de huid vol gescholden. De jongen, die uitdrukkelijk zei dat hij moslim is, zei onder meer dat ze een “vuile lesbienne” is en maakte duidelijk dat dat niet kan binnen de islam.
Kritiek op islam leidt tot doodsbedreigingen
Mila liet zich echter niet zomaar uitschelden en reageerde in een volgende video. “Ik haat religie”, zegt ze eerst. Daarna gaat ze dieper in op de islam. “De Koran predikt enkel haat, de islam is stront, ik zeg wat ik denk. Ik ben niet racistisch. Je kan niet racistisch zijn tegenover een religie. Jullie God, ik steek een vinger in zijn kont, bedankt, tot ziens!”
Na die video werd het meisje overspoeld met doodsbedreigingen en werd zelfs opgeroepen om haar te verkrachten. Haar naam, adres, locatie van haar school, enzoverder werden veelvuldig gedeeld op sociale media waardoor het meisje uit veiligheidsoverwegingen van school moest worden gehaald. Ze moet nu thuis blijven en zou permanent bewaakt worden.
Abdallah Zekri, een topman van de Franse moslimexecutieve, zegt dat het meisje de problemen zelf gezocht heeft. “Ze moet de gevolgen dragen van haar uitspraken”, zei hij. “Wie de wind zaait, oogst de storm.” Opvallend: ook Nicole Belloubet, de Franse minister van Justitie, is hard voor Mila. Ze zei dat “de belediging van religie duidelijk een aanval is op de gewetensvrijheid”, wat strafbaar is in Frankrijk. Kritiek op een religie is dat niet.
Er werd dan ook een onderzoek gestart naar Mila om te bekijken of haar uitspraken vielen onder de vrije meningsuiting of ze toch strafbaar waren. Dat onderzoek werd inmiddels wel stopgezet omdat het gaat om een “persoonlijke mening over een religie en niet om een oproep tot haat of geweld tegen individuen op basis van afkomst of geloof”, aldus de procureur. Het onderzoek naar de doodsbedreigingen loopt nog.
